How do I get started?

Our videos commence with the absolute basics, so beginners can learn what is needed to sew and stitch. We start with common needles and thread, and work our way through basic to more advanced stitches. On our YouTube channel you will find videos covering technical issues around stitching as well as videos containing tutorials on the stitches themselves. Each stitching video will showcase several projects so you can see the stitches in a practical setting. We will provide ratings and comments on the projects to help you plan your own pieces.

Do I need a special needle?

Our first video covers common needles and threads and explains which needle you should use for your circumstances. Later videos will further look at other needles and threads which may be appropriate in specialty pieces. Look at our website blogs where we discuss technical aspects of stitching.

Which thread is best for my project?

Modern threads are easy to use and come in beautiful colours. We talk a little bit about threads in Video 1 to help you get started. The selection of threads includes 6 strand floss, variegated and metallic threads, wool and others. Video 2 showcases a simple running stitch with ribbon which is a great place to start for a beginner.

How do I plan my up-cycled garment ?

There are many considerations to be taken into account when planning to up-cycle a garment. The type of fabric, quantity of fabric, strength of existing seams, as well as where the fabric has experienced wear and tear are but a few. Combining fabrics also poses issues when mixing different types of materials, and colour palettes and styling must also be taken into account. When a project is completed in our video, we will comment on the experience of making that item. We will explain what was easy , what was more difficult and what we may do differently the next time. We also comment on how long a project took to complete and well as cost considerations. We will make the mistakes so you don't have to.

We are Australian based sisters who have a love of sewing, up-cycling, knitting and crafting. Beginners at some crafts, and experienced at others, we are commencing a journey of learning and teaching by publishing easy to follow stitching tutorials with innovative projects, which are both beautiful and practical. Our business caters to both left and right handed crafters. We aim to convey the value of peaceful mindfulness, relaxation and personal growth. We hope you join us to learn and have fun together.
